Oklahoma City to Lose 1 Million Pounds!
Published on Jan 4th, 2008 in Weight Loss with
CNN - Oklahoma City is one of the fattest cities in America, and Mayor Mick Cornett wants to lose this title by giving city residents the New Year’s resolution to lose a total of 1 million pounds!
I imagine this could be a challenge, what with the state meal (yes, an official state meal!) consisting of barbecue pork, chicken fried steak, corn, cornbread, biscuits, sausage and gravy, fried okra, black-eyed peas, squash, grits, strawberries, and pecan pie! I get hungry just reading this list, but oh my gosh, that’s not a meal; it’s a feast!
In order to motivate and assist the shedding of 1 million pounds, Oklahoma City residents can join an online weight loss site devoted to accomplishing this goal. The site has over 3,700 people registered, and that number keeps growing! Together those registered have lost almost 600 pounds since December 31, 2007! Keep it up! You can check out the site here.
A novel idea, this city-wide resolution, but I’m curious to see how successful it will be. I wish all Oklahoma City residents the best in your weight loss endeavors! I hope you can achieve your goals!
