Tips for Young Looking Skin

July 12, 2010 by Daryl Cook

youngThe skin is the largest of all human organs, and it comprises a surface area of between 15 and 20 feet. Our skin is vital to our health and wellness, and it is capable of protecting us from becoming dehydrated or becoming poisoned by the toxic elements within the environment. For this reason, we need to take care of our skin. Some of the tips mentioned below will help you maintain young looking skin as well as skin that can feel young and healthy all the time.

Tip #1 – Limit your exposure to the sun, and make sure that you are protecting your skin using sun block when you absolutely must be out in the sun. This is going to allow your sun to weather some of the abuse from the sun without taking too much damage.

Tip #2 – Make use of a mask in order to tighten and tone your skin. This tightening effect may be cosmetic in nature, and rather temporary, but there are other benefits behind using a mask, such as the ability to clean your pores out as well as to condition your skin for young looking skin.

Tip #3 – If your eyes are droopy, then you can brighten them up considerably just by grooming your eyebrows. This is going to give the illusion of eyelids that are lifted, and when you have more skin that is showing at your brow bone, this is going to open up your entire eye.

Tip #4 – Curling your eyelashes is another way that you can give yourself an instant eye lift.

Tip #5 – If you have wrinkles but you are looking to create young looking skin, one of the quick tips that you can implement is simply to apply highlighter to the creases to downplay your wrinkles.

Tip #6 – If you are dealing with wrinkles on your face but want young looking skin, try avoiding face powder because it is capable of collecting in the wrinkles and actually can make them appear more prominent on your face.

Tip #7 – You should absolutely be avoiding cigarette smoke if you want young looking skin. Cigarette smoke is capable of exposing you to the damaging free radicals that are capable of accelerating the overall aging process, and this will damage the micro-capillaries in your skin, causing it to age prematurely.

Tip #8 – Make sure that you are exercising regularly and eating a balanced and nutritious diet if you want young looking skin. If you are eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruits and avoiding things like refined flours, sugars and other processed foods, then you will be able to maintain your young looking skin for a lot longer.

Anti Aging Makeup Tricks and Tips pt 2

October 19, 2009 by Daryl Cook

lipstickThere are makeup tricks and tips that you can apply to melt away the years and start feeling and looking young and beautiful again. Here are some of my favorite makeup tricks and tips for just that purpose.

Rosy Lip Hues

Rosy lip hue is perfect because it gives you a youthful look without necessarily giving you a young look.

Lips can tend to lose some of their color with age, and unfortunately they can also become much more prone to becoming dry. Choosing ultra bright colors that feature heavy pigments is not the right path to take in this particular stage of life. Instead, you should be choosing sheer lipsticks and sheer lip glosses in order to add sheen and to hydrate your lips instead. These things are going to help your lips look healthier and fuller. Choose shades that are “natural but better” such as pinky beige and rose. These shades mitigate the appearance of any fine lines by reflecting light away.

1 – Choose the proper hue. The most flattering shade for your lips is likely going to be close to your normal, natural lip color, but it should also complement your individual skin tone. Some examples of lip color hues that happen to be universally flattering include pinky brown, beige pink, nude, rosy brown and blackberry, so consider giving one of these a shot.

2 – Now you are going to want to line your lips in order to prevent any color from seeping into those pesky vertical lines. You can use a lip pencil that coordinates well with your lipstick, and you can line the natural border of your lips, beginning with the top lip. Make sure that you pay particular attention to the natural V shape of your top lip. Now move underneath the bottom lip and repeat the process again. If you want to build fullness, you can fill in the entire border of both lips.

3 – Now you are going to want to apply the color. You can use a lip brush for the application process, as the synthetic fibers are going to help the gloss or the lipstick adhere properly while filling the lines in as putty would. Blend from one corner to the other, and then press your lips together so that you can seal the shade in.

4 – Finally, the finishing process: To add additional sheen and a feeling and look of fullness, you can dab your lipstick in the center of your mouth using a clear gloss. This has a powerful effect on the lips and adds fullness and sheen to complete the look.

Anti Aging Makeup Tricks and Tips pt 1

October 10, 2009 by Daryl Cook

creamyconcealerThere are all kinds of makeup tricks and tips out there, but choosing the right ones for your own personal needs is something that you need to figure out. Here are some unique makeup tricks and tips that are anti-aging in nature. What I meant to say is that there are makeup tricks and tips that you can apply to melt away the years and start feeling and looking young and beautiful again. Here are some of my favorite makeup tricks and tips for just that purpose.

Creamy Concealer

As you age your skin begins to lose some of its elasticity and thins out, and this can make you appear tired and can allow your blood vessels to show through which heightens the discoloration in your face. Choosing a concealer to lighten dark circles will help to life your lids the appearance of a light lift while providing your face with a nice overall glow.

1 – Make sure that you choose the right hue. Choose something yellow based that is two shades lighter than your own skin tone.

2 – Now apply it using a concealer brush with a small head. Apply a little near your lower lashes at the innermost corner of your eyes and then the hollows of your nose. Tap lightly and blend gently with a finger for the best results.

3 – Finally, set it using a light dusting of a loose, sheer yellow toned powder to lock your concealer in its place.

Hydrating Foundation

A hydrating foundation product is going to be key because it will address your fine lines, your sagging skin and your sun spots all at the same time. Creamy formulas are good for moisturizing, plumping up skin that is drooping and evening out your tone. Avoid mattes and powders, because they will make your wrinkles appear more pronounced.

1 – Choose the proper hue. Test different hues out until you find the one that fits. Choose a color lighter, one just right and one that is darker to your skin tone, and make stripes from your cheek to your jaw to test them out. Check in different types of lighting – Which one disappears into your skin seamlessly?

2 – Now apply it by patting a little bit into the areas that need to be evened out such as red spots and blemishes using a makeup wedge, a fingertip or a makeup brush. Blend in an upward direction in the direction of your hairline to get a natural effect. Do not go overboard! It’s unnecessary!

3 – Use a light coat of yellow toned, loose powder on your chin, your nose and your forehead if your skin is on the oilier side. Apply using a velour puff or a blush brush to lock your foundation and to smooth the texture.

Facial Exercises for Wrinkle Free Skin

September 29, 2009 by Daryl Cook

wrinklesIf you are serious about maintaining wrinkle free skin, then one of the best things that you can possibly do for your health is to do facial exercises. These facial exercises actually work significantly better than cosmetic surgery when it comes to creating wrinkle free skin, and they also happen to be significantly safer as well. Simple face exercises are significantly safer and more productive in comparison to face lifts, especially when creating or maintaining wrinkle free skin is your primary concern.

The muscles in our face and the skin on our face are both capable of falling prey to the same signs of aging as the rest of our body. Just as we can tone and tighten the rest of our body using exercises, we can tone and tighten up our faces and our necks with simple face exercises as well, allowing us to create and maintain wrinkle free skin as a result. When you consider the cost behind getting a face lift in comparison to the cost associated with face exercises, it should make sense why face exercises for wrinkle free skin is the way to go.

There are a number of studies out there that have supported the concept of using facial exercises to benefit your face and to create wrinkle free skin. There was an independent study, for example, that was conducted by the founder of Flex Effect, and this one found that in a short period of only 8 weeks, there was a 35% increase in the elasticity of skin and a 250% increase in the strength of the muscles in the face when basic, simple facial exercises were completed. Facial flexing is capable of doing much more than simply pulling back your skin – It also gives you a plump as well as youthful look, which is something that even the best and most expensive cosmetic facial surgery simply cannot do.

Facial exercises are definitely something that you are going to want to look into if you are serious about achieving wrinkle free skin. As we begin to age, the cells in our skin become much less resilient and they begin to lose their vitality, and this is what causes our wrinkles and facial lines. Our cheek muscles become deflated, wrinkles develop around our eyes, our jowl lines begin to droop and the corners of our mouths begin to turn down, creating a look that is consistently sad and tired. Why does our face have to droop? Why don’t we simply exercise our facial muscles, tighten our facial skin and enjoy our wrinkle free skin? Facial exercising offers us firmer and more elastic skin, it increases the production of healthier, newer skin cells and it increases the production of elastin and collagen for smoother and healthier skin.

Best Facial Skin Care Products: Choosing the Right Cleanser

September 24, 2009 by Daryl Cook

cleasnerChoosing the right facial skin care products is of vital importance if you want to get the most out of your products and the best results when it comes to achieving healthy skin. Choosing the right facial cleaner is one such decision that is really going to mean a lot to whether or not you have clear, clean and healthy skin. Here are the best facial skin care product cleansers that you should be considering, and the types of situations that they are ideal for. If you bring home the wrong cleaner, you’re not going to be benefiting yourself in any way, and your complexion may suffer for it.

Purpose: Basic Cleanser
Best Product: Purpose Facial Cleaner
Why: You’re going to find a lot of different facial skin care products out there, some that cost $50, some $30, and some less than $10. It turns out, the Purpose facial cleanser is an excellent example of good things coming inexpensively. This is an excellent all around cleanser for basic purposes. It is soap free and oil free, and it creates a wonderful lather that takes away dirt, oil and makeup without leaving your skin too dry. By keeping your skin properly moisturized, it prevents your skin from overproducing skin oils which is really nice. This is one I tried a few years ago and now I never go without it.

Purpose: Dry to Normal Skin
Best Product: Cetaphil Cleanser
Why: There are really no bells and whistles involved when it comes to this really mild product that is recommended by dermatologists because of how gentle it is. It is a really simple $10 cleaner that is creamy and natural rather than being loaded up with perfumes and chemicals. There are no skin irritants in this baby, and that means a lot when it comes to cleansing your skin properly.

Purpose: Oily Skin
Best Product: Clinique’s Wash Away Gel
Why: Gel cleaners happen to work particularly well when it comes to oily skin because they are capable of absorbing up the excess oil in your skin. This is a truly classic cleanser that is capable of being a bit drying, however, so make sure that you test the product out before you spend a lot of money buying it up.

Purpose: Acne Problems
Best Product: Neutrogena’s Oil Free Acne Cleanser
Why: Neutrogena may just be a drugstore based beauty brand, but it is definitely one of the best, and all of the facial skin care products that they produce are going to steer you in the right direction, hands down. You really cannot go wrong with this simple, no frills acne wash which is absolutely ideal for acne stricken skin, especially sensitive skin types.
