I love dancing! There’s just something about a pulsating beat that literally makes me have to move! I can block out the world for a time, realse stress and just have fun.
I also get an incredible workout! Dancing requires using the entire body; it combines cardio and strength aspects. These characteristics make dancing not only effective, but efficient – meaning you can spend less time doing it! Ironically, I rarely watch the clock while I'm dancing and can easily spend more than 30 minutes doing so simply because I'm having fun.
Don’t like the club scene? Not a problem! You can dance in the privacy of your own home! You don’t even need fancy equipment, clothes, or choreography. Just clear a space, turn on your favorite tunes, and move. Just please, don’t pull a muscle, knock over a lamp, or break that priceless heirloom!
In to computer games? You can play and get some exercise at the same time. Nintendo Wii's Dance Dance Revolution
is just one example of the dance video games on the market. Gather your family or a bunch of friends together to try one of these dance games. I guarantee everyone will be laughing (which is also a good workout)!
Not only is dancing an enjoyable stress reliever and a great workout, dancing keeps you young at heart. What a great activity allowing you to be silly and have fun with your kids all the while giving everyone important exercise! Release the creative side by letting your kids pick out the songs, wearing something sparkly, silly, twirly, or even playing with the lights.
So, if you need a change of pace from your usual workout, need an effective way to decompress after a long day at work, or just want to have fun with your family or friends, just get up and dance!

I don’t dance in public, but I love dancing at home! I grab the kids and we dance all over the place. My son thinks it is great fun and I get a great workout!
Good for you!
I also tend to shy away from dancing in public most of the time. However, I have no qualms about kicking off my socks and dancing all silly at home. (And in those cases it’s good that I’m not dancing in public!)
For the wedding, I was given some of the Carmen Electra “workout” DVDs. The problem with using them is that Micah works mostly from home (student/part-time prof) and while I don’t mind him watching me, I do mind him watching her. However, I just realized that I’ll be home during his classes this semester. Yay possibilities!
A friend of mine has the Carmen Electra workout videos, and I borrowed them one day. Not a great cardio workout, but it was still fun and made me laugh. Some of the choreography I thought pretty silly. Good ideas if you want to seduce (or amuse) your husband, though.
Have fun!
