Improving Pilates Posture

motherandsonIt is perfectly possible for you to correct problems with your posture if you have them, but what you need to understand is that it is going to take time and patience in order for an improved posture to become more natural and more comfortable for you. Some incorrect habits in your posture are capable of being sorted out more readily and more quickly while others are going to take a longer time to deal with because they have been developing over a period of many years. Either way, improving pilates posture is a great way to get the most out of this unique form of exercise while improving your every day quality of life by boosting your good posture ability.

There are a number of great benefits that come from improving your posture as a result of pilates. The following list is just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to what pilates can do to benefit you by improving upon your posture. By correcting your posture, you can experience:

  • Strengthening of your muscles,
  • Improved functioning of your stomach and your heart,
  • Improved coordination and balance,
  • Smoother and more fluid movements,
  • More efficient circulation, which leads to nutrients in your body being carried more efficiently to all of the systems in your body, which is going to result in greater health, improvements in energy and an enhanced appearance,
  • Strengthening of your immune system, meaning that you can fight off disease more easily.

It can be difficult to determine if you are standing or sitting in an improper way. One of the more useful ways for you to determine this is to ask for someone to take two pictures of you, one where you are standing up and one where you are sitting down, both side views. Try not to do anything to alter your posture for the camera, just relax into your normal position, one that feels comfortable and relaxing. When you get the photographs, you can examine them to figure out if you have any tell tale signs of bad posture, and if you do, then pilates posture exercises will be able to help you deal with your posture problems for better health.

Some tell tale signs of posture problems while sitting include a rounded upper back, a head or chin jutting forward, a stomach that is protruding or any slumping. Some tell tale signs of posture problems while sitting include slouching, shoulders that are rounded, a chest that is compressed and an outward curving lower back or a compressed abdomen.

If any of these signs are showing themselves in your photograph, its time to see what pilates fitness can do for you and to improve your posture. Pilates is a wonderful workout program that promotes all around good health and wellbeing.
