Is Juicing a Healthy Diet Choice?

We have all seen the local smoothie or health food shop on the way to work or on a night out on the town, but most of us have never bothered to step inside and see what it's all about. If you were to stop in one of these places, you would find out the many arguments health enthusiasts have for a juice fasting diet.

The government says that we need to consume at least 3-5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. While 3-5 is just the bare minimum, consuming more can lead to an abundance of extra nutrients and minerals that boost your body into a state of super-overdrive. Instead of consuming a grueling amount of vegetation and ruffage by chewing and swallowing, juicing allows you to get all of the benefits of the produce in a quick beverage form.

In the movie “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead,” Australian businessman Joe Cross takes a cross country tour across America in order to lose weight through juicing and get to the bottom of the obesity epidemic. Along his journey, the 310 pound man makes an epic transformation over the course of two months by consuming nothing but produce in juice form.

Not only can juicing help to manage your weight, it can also help to stave off illness. Heart disease which requires cholesterol drugs, diabetes which can make you lose a foot, and cancer that can require pituitary surgery are major epidemics in every society that consumes a diet full of processed and fast foods, and it is mainly because of poor diet. Other things that afflict us are skin rashes and hormonal disorders that come from eating allergens and biologically tampered foods.

Do not think of an all exclusive juice diet as a cure all for everything that ails you. It is still important to eat a normal, well balanced diet that features other things than fruits and vegetables. If you have been crashing hard because of your poor dietary choices and need a reboot, try taking a break and juicing your own produce for a week in order to see how your body functions on full power.
