Eating Healthy Fat for a Healthy Body

flaxseedBeing healthy is a really important component in a healthy lifestyle. What many people do not realize is that one of the most important components in a healthy lifestyle is eating healthy fat. You may not previously have been aware of the fact that healthy fats exist, but they do. Fat is actually good for you when you eat the right varieties, and yes, there are some varieties of fat that do more good than anything else. Good fat, and eating healthy fat will benefit your health rather than harm it, and eating fat is not what makes you gain weight. Good fat is good for you, it's healthy, it's great, and it may even help you lose weight rather than gain.

It's easy to fall in love with fat. The difference between many people, however, is that some people have restraint and some simply do not have any restraint at all. You need to understand the difference between good fats and not-so-good fats in order to benefit from the health benefits that fats have to offer. When it comes to eating healthy fat you should be going for omega 3 fatty acids and polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats and other types of healthy fats. Unfortunately, too many foods in this day and age contain saturated fats, and even worse, trans-saturated fats, which are the worst possible types of fat that you can consume.

Omega 3 fatty acids are a type of fat that can be found in oily varieties of fish and other sources such as flaxseed. Oily fish is the best source of these fats, which have been proven to have an immense amount of health benefits including increasing your intelligence, warding off cancer, benefiting your weight loss and fat loss effort and promoting healthy pregnancy.

Polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats have become popular by way of the Mediterranean diet, which shows that fat in moderation can be good for you. They recommend eating healthy fat like black olives, olive oil and nuts, and other sources of healthy fats because they benefit your diet and weight loss effort and promote good overall health.

Adding healthy fats into your lifestyle really is not hard. You can add crushed nuts into most of your meals and you will immediately begin to see the health benefits. Cook with olive oil rather than other types of oil, and soak up more healthy fats into your diet. It really is incredible how simply you can make the right choices about your diet, and these diet choices will begin to pay off quickly and effectively by boosting your health, helping you lose weight and promoting good health in many other ways as well.

When you get into the habit of eating healthy fat, it can really pay off.

Great post. Fat (not the bad kind ;) is vital for good health – certain vitamins can’t even be absorbed without it.

Too many web sites are promoting coconut oil, palm oil and soy bean oil. All of these oils will eventually harm you. I only use olive and grape seed oil. I do not use saturated oils, butters, margarines, Trans fats (hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils), any processed soy product, and vegetable oils like cotton seed, corn, and canola. Three years ago I switched to olive and grape seed oil. It has made such a change to my body, it lowered my total cholesterol over 100 points and I do not eat oat meal or take meds. My blood pressure is now 60 over 105 it was 90 over 135. I now have a pulse of 58. I am over 40 years old. My doctor is baffled how I achieved this with out meds. I mostly eat egg whites, chicken, turkey, lean pork, some fish – not too much because of mercury, vegetables, fruits, rice, home made bread, and my favorite chocolate peanut butter muffins only sweetened with apple sauce! I avoid eating out, you cannot control what’s in that food. I do not eat deli meats, hot dogs, and bacon, all have high sodium and nitrates that can cause colon and prostate cancers. I do not eat soy products because they cause hormone issues and inflammation of arteries around the heart. I also do not drink tap water because it contains chlorine and high amounts of iron which can be harmful if you have hemochromotosis – genetic disorder that goes undetected by most doctors in the U.S. that makes the body store too much iron and will eventually kill you by the time your in your 50’s and is usually misdiagnosed as either a heart attach or liver cancer

Yes I agree! Omega 3 is a great antioxidant that wards off things that makes your health rusty and unclean. So enjoy a food rich in Omega-3! Things will never be the same again!

Do not heat Olive oil as it has a low smoke point…add olive oil to foods immediately after cooking.

One of my favorites to cook with is Sesame Seed Oil as it has a high ‘smoke point’ making it good oil to cook with.

The Myth about Coconut Oil. For decades it was considered bad because it is saturated oil which is said to raise blood cholesterol and cause heart disease. This idea was based on a study done 40 years ago that used ‘hydrogenated coconut oil.’

In tropical climates like Polynesia, Sri Lanka and the Yucatan where they have a diet high in coconut oil, the people are healthier, have less heart disease, cancer and colon problems than unsaturated fat eaters. It is now accepted that there is good cholesterol and there are good saturated fats.
